CAPTAIN

Every team must have a captainCaptains make sure that all players show up to each event, create and hand in line ups, record scores and in the case of 10u teams, act as court monitors and assist players with rules and score keeping. Parent Captains must complete Online Safeplay TrainingRenew here.  High School Captains do not complete Safeplay. The captain discount is $15 off the registration fee.

  • ASAP If you are not available to captain for one of the matches, have another parent/high school player act as captain for that match - text Edyta and Coach Kat with their name and phone number.
  • ASAP if you will have fewer than 3 players - text Edyta and Coach Kat.

SETTING UP THE LINE UP AND RECORDING SCORES

  • The day before each match, reconfirm with your team who is available to play the match.  From this list you will choose 3 singles players and 3 doubles teams, making sure that every available player for this day gets to play at least once.  Keep in mind who is available for future matches as well because you will want to be sure that everyone gets to play singles as equally as possible.  Your coach may send you an order of strength line up for singles and/or some ideas for doubles.  With this information, create two written plans and share them with Coach Kat and Coach Vanessa. If your team or the opposing team has less than 4 players you will use plan 2.

  • Plan 1

    • Round 1    doubles____________________   doubles___________________________

    • Round 2    singles_____________________  doubles____________________________

    • Round 3    singles_____________________  singles____________________________

  • Plan 2

    • Round 1    singles_________________  doubles________________________________

    • Round 2    singles_________________  doubles________________________________

    • Round 3    singles_________________  doubles________________________________

  • At the match you will need to write down your line up on your scorecard and record the scores.  The scorecard is a little strange - make sure you put the games won in the correct column, check off which team won each match and count up games won by each team in total.  The team with the most GAMES won wins the match.

WHAT TO WEAR & BRING: Each PCTC team may pick a team color and players can wear their own shirts of that color to match as a team. (Photos from Spring 2021 ) Teams may also go all out and design/print team shirts.  Make sure to wear shorts, skirts, or skorts with pockets.  Girls, if you can't find shorts with pockets, you can wear compression shorts and insert the ball into the side of the shorts.  Compression shorts with cell phone pockets also work great.  You must hold one extra ball while serving.  Wear a wristband. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Bring or wear sunscreen, hat/visor and/or sunglasses. Long hair should be tied back.  Keep a few bandaids in your bag too.

COACHING RULES: For 10U Orange ball teams, captains and coaches are allowed on courts to help players with positioning, rules and scoring. Only 1 captain and 1 coach per team. No additional coaches, co-captains, parents are allowed.

For 12u, 14u and 18u, players are the only ones allowed on the courts; Captains and coaches are not allowed on courts unless players need  help to resolve an issue. Coaches and team captains may coach players off the court on changeovers, between games and between rounds. Only players  make line calls on their own side of the court.  Parents, families and friends are not allowed to talk to or coach players during their matches.

MATCH WIN CRITERIA: We count games won, not matches. Every game matters.  Winning or losing an individual match is not as important as the number of games won.  Edyta counts the total number of games won by each team at the end of each match and at the end of the season. The team with highest number of games won, wins the JTT season.

MATCH FORMAT: Five minute warm up before first match begins, quick changes between games and 5 minutes between rounds.

Every division plays 3 rounds.  3 singles and 3 doubles, no-ad-scoring and no  tiebreakers.

10u Orange matches are timed, 20 minutes or first to win 4 games.

12u Green matches are NOT timed, first to win 4 games. In doubles at duece, recieving team can choose who recieves serve.

14u & 18u Yellow ball matches are NOT timed, first to win 6 games.  In doubles at duece, recieving team can choose who recieves serve.
