Rebeca Boyce
Since she lifted her first wooden racquet at age 11, Rebecca has been crazy about tennis. As a pre-Title IX youngster, she was not exposed to formal instruction, but over the years sought out the advice of coaches, attended tennis camps, and participated in social and league practices, finally developing her game as a recreational adult player. After completing a Masters in Sports Management with emphasis on ‘women in sport’ she obtained teaching certification through the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). With the goal of bringing greater numbers of women into the game, in 2011, she founded the program, True Beginner Tennis for Women which was enthusiastically adopted by the City of Miami Beach Parks & Recreation Department. Over the years, hundreds of women have been exposed to the sport of tennis through this program where women from novice to intermediate levels are instructed by dedicated pros who emphasize teaching the sport in a non-stressful learning environment.
