It’s important to know about the mentor and inspiration for the True Beginner Tennis for Women program. Without Dr. Smith’s continued guidance and support, TBT would not have become the program it is today. Thank you Betsy! Here is a brief account of her accomplishments:

Betsy Smith is a PTR-certified Professional with over 30 years experience in the tennis industry. As a former junior, collegiate, and professional player, Betsy began her teaching career working for Nick Bollettieri and All-American Sports. She has held Director of Tennis positions at both public and private facilities in the Miami area, including Ron Ehmann Tennis Center and Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club. Active in USTA events, Betsy also served two terms on the Florida Appeals and Grievance Committee and was a Florida District Head Verifier for the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). Consistently named as one of the top 200 teaching professionals in the US, as well as a proponent of women’s tennis, she was honored as the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Member of the Year in 2012. Branching out into the educational arena, Betsy furthered her career earning a doctorate in Sport Management and working at the university level. She currently lives on the Alabama Gulf Coast and serves on the Board of Directors of three nonprofit sport/recreation organizations.
