Spring into Schools Tennis in April 2026
Coach Shelby & Friends has applied for USTA Southern "Spring into Tennis" Schools Initiative grants to pop up our nets at Central Elementary School for Move Up, Move Around Night on April 23 and Wellness Night at Lincoln Elementary on April 30. The Spring into Tennis School Initiative aims to foster partnerships with local schools, promote healthy activities, and introduce students to the lifelong benefits of tennis. By working together with schools, we can create fun and engaging opportunities for students to stay active and learn the game of tennis. #GrowTennisLocal.
COACH SHELBY AND FRIENDS
Coach Shelby & Friends is a community tennis provider in Rockingham County NC led by Shelby Rhyne. We specialize in bringing red ball tennis to local schools, tennis facilities, after school and summer childcare providers. We also bring the game directly to organizations that serve individuals with intellectual disabilities—such as day programs, schools, and residential facilities—removing transportation and scheduling barriers as part of Abilities Tennis Onsite. #GrowTennisLocal
Shelby Rhyne is a passionate advocate for community tennis and loves playing with beginners of every age. She is the founder of Rockingham County Tennis Association and served as Executive Director from 2014-22. She volunteers with USTA NC and Rockingham County Community Foundation and is an active USTA league player. She is a Safe Play approved member of USTA Coaching and a PTR Certified Level 1 Coach.
