Who Can Join?
Membership is open to all University of Michigan students — from experienced competitors to complete beginners. Everyone is welcome to rally, play sets, or just drop in for fun.
Membership Costs
Club Dues: $40 per semester (covers court rentals, balls, and club expenses).
Varsity Tennis Center (VTC) Fee: $50 annual facility membership, or $10 per-visit guest fee. More about VTC memberships. This fee is paid to the Varsity Tennis Center, not the club.
Drop-In Option: $10 per session if you don’t want to commit for the full semester.
First Session Free: Try Rec Tennis before you commit (VTC guest fee may still apply for non-members).
Payments & Refunds
Dues are paid through our ServeTennis platform. Since Rec Tennis is a non-profit club, every member’s dues are essential. Refunds are only available within two weeks of payment; low attendance is not a reason for refund, but exceptional cases may be reviewed by the E-Board.
Carpooling & Drivers
We coordinate rides to VTC through our GroupMe chat, with pickups at central and north campus locations before each session.
If you can consistently provide rides, you’ll receive reduced dues (as low as $20/semester).
Drivers must fill out the Driver Interest Form, which is pinned in the GroupMe chat.
Financial Assistance
If dues or fees create a financial burden, please reach out to us. We are committed to working out payment plans so everyone has the chance to play and enjoy tennis.
