Kokosing Valley CTA - KVCTA gift to MVCSD students

KVCTA gift to MVCSD students

KVCTA is giving every kindergartener and first-grader in the Mount Vernon City School District an age-appropriate tennis racquet for the 2020-2021 school year.  This has been made possible through a $5000 grant from the USTA Midwest Tennis and Education Foundation.

Elementary physical education teachers Jerry Clinger, Brock Evans, and Kurt Roberts have agreed to distribute the racquets during a tennis unit they will teach, probably in the spring of 2021.  Some of the schools' PTOs have given money to buy age-appropriate balls also.

KVCTA has also provided the physical educators access to an online Google Classroom entitled "Learning Tennis At Home."  The teachers will be able to use the course during their instruction at school or online as part of their virtual instruction.  The course was developed by Northeast Ohio Tennis Association's Rebecca Hancart, who is the USTA Tennis Service Representative for Knox County.

Parents who are interested in what to do with this equipment at home can view the video links at the bottom of our home page.  For those who are interested in enrolling their children in lessons, they should see the "Summer Lessons" link at the top of the home page.
