Ratings based on the USTA NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program)
5.0 a skilled recreational tennis player with good shot anticipation and a standout attribute. They can consistently hit winners, force errors, and put away volleys.
4.5 a rating given to advanced players in the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). Players at this level have a good understanding of power, spin, and pace. They can also control the depth of their shots and develop game plans based on their opponents' strengths and weaknesses.
4.0 an "intermediate-advanced" level player with consistent, dependable strokes, good directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand, and the ability to use various shots like lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys with some success; they may be starting to incorporate more power and spin into their game but could still struggle with hitting difficult shots consistently.
3.5 a player is at an intermediate level and has improved stroke dependability. They can handle a variety of shots but need to improve their court coverage and strategy
3.0 a player who is fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots but lacks accuracy and control when attempting to place shots with different speeds, depth, or direction; essentially a beginner-intermediate level player who can reliably rally but struggles with advanced shot execution.
