Introduction
Welcome to the Great River Tennis Association in Muscatine, IA where we are the winners of the 2022 and 2025 Outstanding Community Tennis Association, awarded by the USTA Iowa Tennis Association!
2025 was a great year for Muscatine's own Jr. High and High School players for Sportsmanship and Emerging Jr. Players of the Year Awards. Micayla Edkin won the Emerging Female Jr. Player of the Year Award, Jacob Tobey won the Boys 12U Sportsmanship Award, and Kaylee Cochran won the Girls 16U Sportsmanship Award!
GRTA's 2023 T. Beckley Jr. Tennis Tournament also won and was recognized for Outstanding Jr. Tennis Tournament! This is the 2nd time we won this award from the USTA Iowa Tennis Association!
GRTA's Tennis Instructor, Cindy Klebe, won the USTA ITA President's Award for 2024 for her work to promote tennis in the community and to encourage the use of USTA Tennis Officials at Iowa tennis tournaments.
We are a non-profit volunteer community tennis organization who share their skills to mentor young players, both in their tennis game and in becoming model citizens. The GRTA was founded in 1975 and incorporated as a not-for-profit in 2004.
The Muscatine T. Beckley Jr. Tennis Open is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) Sanctioned tournament, that provides competitive play for local and surrounding area youths. It won the “Outstanding Junior Tennis Tournament of the Year” Award in 2019, from the Iowa District Tennis Association. Some of the criteria to earn this award was that it was well organized, both the players and parents had great comments about it, and that the volunteers really made the players feel special throughout the tournament.

All training is provided, however, the Roving Umpire job requires online training thru the USTA.
