The FBB Literacy and Education Program was established as a direct response to this academic inequity. Our socioemotional development program teaches evidence-based remedial reading skills using online software and interactive character and life skills activities. The goals of the program are to 1) establish a learning path for each mentee 2) foster a growth mindset  3) improve behavior; 4)  close the learning gaps 5) increase parent engagement. 

FBB incorporates input from children and families in multiple ways. Parents are provided with needs assessments, which are used to develop and improve FBB programming. The organization’s mentoring and tutoring services evolved from parent surveys. Mentoring coaches are also responsive to parents and children and will adapt their sessions based on immediate participant need.

 FBB also trains its mentoring coaches to tutor on the learning management systems. FBB uses Exact Path, Study Island and Courseware and the county school districts use Canvas, Schoology, and Google.
