On March 8, several BCTA volunteers and coaches joined other award recipients in accepting their honors at the Philadelphia Area Tennis District (PATD) Awards Ceremony at Germantown Cricket Club in Philadelphia. The BCTA is also celebrating its 25th Anniversary of providing tennis programs on public-park courts in partnership with local park and recreation departments. In 2025 alone, the BCTA provided affordable tennis fun and fitness to over 2,200 youth and adult participants in partnership with 22 recreation agencies and schools at over two dozen sites—a wonderful increase from just 55 participants and one site in 2003, BCTA’s first year of tennis programming! Plus, the BCTA serves as a USTA School Partner to over 75 Physical Education teachers throughout the county to help bring tennis to hundreds of students via their school program. The BCTA also supports league tennis as well as special programs such as a bus trip to the US Open where for the fourth year in a row, its young tennis players showcased their skills on Arthur Ashe stadium as part of the US Open Net Generation activation!
The BCTA offering outdoor and indoor programs that include Learn, Practice & Play; Jr. Team Tennis and Adult Team trainings; teen-adult leagues, special events like National Triples Day Cardio/Red Ball play, and hosts its annual USTA-sanctioned tournament, which last year hosted 85 tennis competitors in both boy’ and girls’ 14-, 16- and 18-and-under divisions.
The BCTA has previously been recognized nationally and regionally. In 2011, the BCTA was named national 2011 Community Tennis Association (CTA) of the Year by Racquet Sports Industry magazine, and in 2012 garnered the USTA Middle States CTA of the Year! The nonprofit has also been a USTA Middle States Premier Provider for 14 consecutive years.
