Eugene L. Scott Renaissance Award Presentation
As part of the NPPTC tennis festivities, Billie Jean King will be recognized with the Eugene L. Scott Renaissance Award, which has not been presented since 2016.
This award is given in the memory of Gene, who was a great supporter of the National Public Park Tennis Championships. This USTA-NPPTA prestigious award honors a national and/or international tennis champion who demonstrates excellence in promoting and developing the sport of tennis in public parks and who characterizes the ideals of public parks tennis. The award is presented at the NPPTC, and past recipients include Gene Scott (posthumously in 2006), Chris Evert (2007), Chanda Rubin (2008), Stan Smith (2009), Butch Buchholz (2010), David Wheaton (2011), Martina Navratilova (2012), Jimmy Connors (2013), Brad Gilbert (2014), Eric Butorac (2015) and Lindsay Davenport (2016).
