Halloween + Tennis = Additional Fun

Tennis players participating in BCTA’s Fall Forehands program enjoyed the warm October weather and celebrated Halloween three days early as they wrapped up the last outdoor program of the 2024 season.

BCTA Coach Craig Batten continued his annual “Black & Orange” theme the week of Halloween by encouraging all three age divisions to wear as much black and orange clothing as possible and incorporating Halloween themes in numerous tennis activities, for example:

  • throwing in an occasional black and orange tennis balls for players to hit, and if they did so effectively, they received extra points.
  • introducing themed targets such as a witch’s hat (named “Mildred” by players) and a tall, slim orange pumpkin (named “Fred” by players) for groundstroke drills, and as “opponents” to avoid when directing balls crosscourt during doubles play.

Coach Craig noted, “It was a fun night for all as players had to manage a number of black-and-orange elements [targets and people] on the court.”
