About this league

Jingle Bells League is a fun, social, non-USTA league to get you in the holiday spirit! This adult league is open to players 18 years of age or older and runs early November thru mid-December. The format is one court each of Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles. Minimum number on a team is 3 men and 3 women. Our divisions are 2.5/3.0, 3.0/3.5 and 3.5/4.0. The deadline to register a team is October 4th. No team? No problem, we will be forming teams for those who are looking. You can email jinglebells@wilmingtontennis.com for more information.

League rules

The Jingle Bells League is meant to be a fun, social tennis time during the holiday season. Our goal for you is to have a great time playing tennis and sharing holiday cheer!

Team Match Format
• 1 Men's Doubles Court
• 1 Women's Doubles Court
• 1 Mixed Doubles Court
Team Composition
- 2.5/3.0 teams must be comprised of players with a NTRP rating no higher than 3.0
- 3.0/3.5 teams must be comprised of players with either a 3.0 or 3.5 NTRP rating
- 3.5/4.0 teams should be comprised of players with either a 3.5 or 4.0 NTRP rating

Scoring
• Best 2 out of 3, 6 game sets
• Regular Scoring with 7 point tie-breaker at set score of 6-6
• 10 point tie break in lieu of third set
• Winner determined by number of games won
• There will be three courts played: men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles
• Winner of each court will be determined by number of games won. Winner of match will be determined by total number of games won on all three courts. In the example below, you will see it is possible to win more sets than the other team but still lose the match. Team A won 2 out of the 3 courts but still lost the match by 4 games.

• If there is a tie, we will go to total number of sets won. If there is still a tie, we will go to total number of matches won. If there is still a tie we will toss a coin to determine winner.

League Dates
· November 2nd through December 18th
· No matches Thanksgiving week if possible

• Days of the week played will be determined by number of teams and matches (usually Mondays or Thursdays)
• Team matches: all courts should go on court at the same time.
• Home Team brings balls and leaves with them after the match
• Score Cards are exchanged at the beginning of the match
• All locations have 3 courts allotted so all matches will go on at the same time
• Since all teams have at least 3 men and 3 women, there will be no staggered start times.
• If, on an emergency basis, you are down to only 2 players of the same gender and need to have a staggered start time, and the opposing team is able to accommodate, allow the players of the third match to arrive 45 minutes after the original start time. I will need notification to extend reservations.
• Warm Ups limited to 10 minutes in all locations
• Match winner shall email scores to jinglebells@wilmingtontennis.com within 24 hours
• Scores will be posted on www.wilmingtontennis.com
• Weather Issues
• If there is any possibility to dry the courts for play, dry them (we are in a very short season and it will be hard to make up any matches)
• If the weather is below 32 degrees including wind chill via weather.com, a match may be rescheduled. If players are willing to play however the match may go on but all players who play must be in agreement. You may have 1 court play and 2 not etc. but again, this is a short season and matches should be played if at all possible
• If a match is cancelled due to weather, please email me and I will find courts and a date. There is a possibility that any make-up match may have to be played on another day of the week
