SMU Tennis Complex an award-winning facility, home to Southern Methodist University's Mens & Womens tennis programs
Overview / Introduction
the United States Tennis Association's Facility Of The Year award winner in 2019 includes:
- Turpin Stadium (six outdoor courts) + Brookshire Pavilion (six indoor courts)
- Cox Club Suite, the 3rd floor luxury area (exclusive access for donors, VIPs, etc.) complete with commercial kitchen + wet bar that offers simultaneous outdoor & indoor court viewing
- Huff Pro Shop, which carries traditional tennis retail merchandise (racquets, string, grip, etc.) + college tennis facility team fan gear
- seating + amenities for over 3000 people
The Program
SMU Tennis Complex supports USTA's efforts to Grow The Game via:
- multiple aspects of USTA-branded programming, regardless of skill/age/gender/etc.
- hosting various USTA events at the local, state, & national levels
- all aspects of college tennis, whether USTA’s Tennis On Campus program, ITA events, or conference tournaments (of all divisions) that serve as NCAA qualifiers
- competition-- Texas high school (UIL) state playoff matches
- training–- numerous playing professionals (ITF, ATP) train here
- non-USTA tennis industry partners-– USPTA, UTR, GLTA, etc.
- other (external) tennis contributions-– Maureen Connolly Brinker Foundation, Dirk Nowitzki Foundation, Susan G Komen Foundation, etc.
- internal (to the SMU Tennis family) contributions-– free clinic for matchday ballkids, Senior Day for graduating student-athletes, Mix & Mingle fundraiser, etc.
