York and Youngs inducted into North Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame

Ron York, long-time player and coach, and Vic Youngs, an award winning Fargo tennis coach, were recently inducted into the North Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame.  The ceremony took place during the Red River Open in Fargo.  Click on Ron and Vic to read about each of them.

Wynne Brothers Inducted Into USTA Northern Hall of Fame--Rod Morasch Receives Award

 

Tim and Tom Wynne again have been awarded another honor.   They were recently inducted into the USTA Northern Section Hall of Fame. The cerremony took place in the Twin Cities on May 10th.  In addition to this and several other awards, the identical "T-Wynnes" were in the first class of the North Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame.  Click on Tim and Tom for more information on each of them.

At the same ceremony Rod Morasch, head tennis pro at Capital Racquet and Fitness Center in Bismarck, received the Jack Dow Adult Development Award.  

Perry Ford Dies

Perry Ford, well known basketball player and coach died recently in Minnesota.  Ford played tennis and basketball at Bismarck High School in the '70's.  He and basketball teammates were inducted into the Bismarck State College Hall of Fame in 2017.  He coached at Augustana (Sioux Falls) and SMSU (Marshall, MN) and his 1995-96 SMSU team was recently honored at the university.  For a few summers after high school, Ford was a successful tennis tournament player in western North Dakota.  A celebration of his life will take place in the Twin Cities on Sunday, April 7.

Bismarck To Host Coaches' Workshop

Bismarck iwill host a USTA Tennis Coaches' Workshop on Tuesday, May 28 from 9 am to noon.  There is no charge for coaches to attend and all are welcome!  For more information and to RSVP, please contact USTA trainer Jessie Daw, host Katrina Hanenberg or Carolyn Kramer.

Memorial Tennis Tournament Honors Cusic

Dickinson Parks and Rec has renamed their annual Pre Super Bowl Tennis Tournament "Rogina Cusic Memorial Tennis Tournament."  Cusic was a dedicated tennis enthusiast from Dickinson and tjhen Bismarck who played in Dickinson and Bismarck tournaments.  Cusic also served as an assistant tennis coach for St. Mary's High School Girls' Tennis Team.  Cusic was loved and respected by many whose lives she touched.
