Tennis Performance Training Institute ("PTI") Format
The MTX Tennis Academy is a high performance junior player development program for experienced players that are interested in taking their game to the next level. Our goal is to incorporate a tennis performance training format ("PTI") to develop the total athlete and to create an energizing enviroment where players believe in themselves and are treated with respect. The multifaceted components of the PTI won't all be implemented on day one, but they will serve as a road map to where we would like to take the Academy over time. It's our opinion that utilizig the various training methods, instruments and platforms of a PTI, will allow us to create a learning enviroment for athletes to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Listed below are the components of the PTI.
Player Assessment Profile/Tests:
The purpose of these kits are to allow information to be gathered systematically on each tennis student. Tennis instruction and related learning experiences can be developed via auditory, visual, kinesthetic and response system.
On Court Training:
Following the principals of athlete development; individuality, work load, specificity, repetition and variation. The balance and combination of these principals and components is crucial in developing a complete athlete ready to succeed in competition and achieve his/her goals. The objective is to develop the consummate player. One that is tactically wise, technically sound, physically fit and mentally efficient.
Thought Management Systems:
These instruments provide a blueprint for an individual’s tracking of progress in tennis. It allows them to train efficiently and effectively both on and off the court. It allows them to more quickly and easily become and remain a mentally efficient individual. It will track and record progress that allows them to formulate sound habits and systematically attain their goals.
Strength & Conditioning Program:
Addresses a wide range of essential components needed for a tennis specific training program. Working closely with the Society for Tennis Medicine and Science (STMS) will help ensure that range, frequency and intensity of training cycles and recovery programs are implemented properly.
Interactive Series:
The purpose of these programs are to create a dynamic that encourages thought provoking ideas and actionable insights. The active engagement of topics is used to promote discussion as well as introspective learning. Players gain a better understanding of their personal tendencies, strengths and weaknesses. These topics are conducted on and off court via presentation that utilize analytics for player centric solutions.
Personal Periodized Training Plan:
Working on a calendar year each student can optimize training blocks to align with their goals. Tournaments can be put in a matrix for their micro, mezzo and macro training cycles, so peak performance can occur at a desired time. This method helps students make the greatest improvements, preventing injuries while staying mentally and physically fresh.
