Court status updates are at our Mastodon page

Lakewood posts court status updates at our Mastodon page.  You can click these links to visit our Mastodon page directly, to view our court status – whether the courts are open, or closed, or delayed opening for rain or other reasons.

Note that Mastodon is a social media platform.  You can view Lakewood updates without an account, or you can make a Mastodon account (but you don't need to).  You should be able to change the appearance of Mastodon by clicking Preferences then Appearance.

Ways to view status updates at our Mastodon page

We are providing suggestions and instructions for how to quickly access the Lakewood court status updates at our Mastodon page. No guarantees – some of this is info we found online, and we've tried to test it, but your mileage may vary.

1. You can bookmark our Mastodon page on any web browser on your computer or phone, to open it directly.
2. Some web browsers allow you to create a "favorites" page or bar, or open with a blank window that has links to your "favorites".  You can view Lakewood's Mastodon page, and add it to your Favorites.
3. On a phone or tablet, you can create a button that looks like an app and opens the Lakewood court status updates at the web browser you like. 
   1. If you have an iphone or ipad and a Mac, this will appear on both, and you can add it to your phone's home screen where it looks and works like an app, and to your Mac's dock, where it opens the page in a web browser.
      1. Apple Shortcuts App.  Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or Mac.
      2. Click the + button to create a new shortcut.
      3. Search for the Open URLs action.
      4. Paste your Mastodon page URL into the action - https://mastodon.world/@LakewoodTC 
      5. Name the new shortcut and drag it where you want on your Home screen (iPhone, iPad) or into your Dock (may need to right-click it and select Add to Dock).
   2. If you have an Android phone, this should create a clickable icon on your home screen that opens directly to the Lakewood court status updates.
      1. Open Google Chrome on your Android device.
      2. Navigate to https://mastodon.world/@LakewoodTC.
      3. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner.
      4. Select "Add to Home screen".
      5. Rename the shortcut if you wish, then tap "Add".
4. You can sign up for an account on Mastodon, follow our Lakewood account, and you should be able to get email updates, or notifications from the Mastodon app, when a new status update is posted.
5. There are other ways to do this as well - on a Mac in Safari, you can "share" the webpage to the Dock and make a button that works like a standalone app on Mac.  You can also drag the URL from the bar to the Desktop, making it work like a standalone app.
