Introduction
The Lakeshore Community Tennis Association promotes and provides tennis opportunities in the Lakeshore area. All Summer programming is held at the Grand Haven High School Tennis Courts.
The Lakeshore Community Tennis Association runs tennis programs throughout the year including the summer academy, after school programs and teams for 3rd-8th graders, tournaments for juniors and adults, as well as other tennis activities.
All programming is directed by Chris Wilton, life-long Grand Haven resident and USPTA Elite Professional. Chris has been a USPTA Professional for 35 years, a 2-time USPTA Michigan Professional of the Year, WMTA Family of the Year, former President of the Western Michigan Tennis Association, Michigan USPTA, Board Member for Midwest USPTA, Division 1 Coach of the Year for the MHSAA, and winner of various other awards. Chris is currently the Executive Director of the Western Michigan Tennis Association (the USTA District for Western Michigan) the Varsity Tennis Coach for the Girls and Boys at Grand Haven, the Tournament Director at Hope College, and Director of the Lakeshore Community Tennis Association that oversees the Lakeshore Academy (Camps) and tournaments in the summer and afterschool progams during the school year.
In 2024 the Grand Haven High School Tennis Program was selected as a "USTA Oustanding Facility of the Year" based on the programming offered through the school and the summer programs. This was one of only 3 across the Midwest selected for this and the only one in Michigan!
We are looking forward to another great summer on the courts!
For the summer of 2026, all of the same great programs will be running again! Sign ups will begin late January or early February.
Schedule:
First day of the Academy - June 15.
Last day of the Academy - July 30.
We will be off one of the weeks around the Fourth of July. That has not been determined yet by the school.
Below is what we are going to run:
Lakeshore Academy/Camp - High School and Middle School Players 10am-1pm Monday-Thursday
Lakeshore Academy/Camp - Elementary Players 9-10am Monday-Thursday
Night Academy/Camp - High School and Middle School Players 6-8pm Tuesday and Thursday
All players can come play matches on Friday mornings at home or other schools in the area when we have them.
We will have players sign up per week or for the all-summer option. This will allow us to know the exact number of players each day.
We are hosting the Junior Team Tennis District Championships again on July 10! Get your team together and play with your friends.
We also are hosting 8 tournaments for all ages and levels throughout the summer.
