Volunteering with Special Olympics was an extremely rewarding experience for me. It was inspiring to see the ways in which these students overcame physical limitations and worked around challenges they were facing to still be able to play tennis and work on improving their strokes. Watching them was impactful for me because of how they served as a reminder that persistence and determination can help someone to overcome even what may seem like impossible circumstances. As it says in Psalm 121, our help comes from God who has made the heavens and the earth and I was immensely blessed to see and be apart of the work that God is doing in their lives. I would strongly encourage those who are considering working with Special Olympics to get involved. It is an incredible opportunity to meet new people and work with some extremely motivated, resilient, and kind individuals.
