Earlier this month, the USTA Southwest hosted its annual awards ceremony. During this event, the USTA Southwest Section honors individuals for their contributions in creating and providing an enjoyable tournament experience for players. One of the categories among the awards is for Outstanding Tournament Enrichment.

This award is given to recognize the contributions of individuals who encourage competitive play in their community by providing and enriching sanctioned tournaments in a fun, friendly and professional manner. Nominees could be tournament directors, officials, tournament desk workers, tournament committee members and volunteers. Our Northern Arizona region is excited to announce that The Flagstaff Open was the 2022 Outstanding Tournament Enrichment award winner!

This tournament was directed by Jean Brown (pictured here), and this annual combined adult and junior events is one of the top showcases of tennis in Northern Arizona. The tournament, which is held at Northern Arizona University, is an annual fundraiser for junior programs in Flagstaff, has incredible community effort from volunteers, and gives players a unique and memorable tournament experience each and every time. Big thank you to all the players, volunteers, and participants who made this event possible and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2023!
