Bismarck Mandan Tennis Association - Home

Updates from July 24, 2025

Mayo Pharmacy Bismarck Open

Registration deadline is this Sunday (July 27). Our largest tournament of the year attracts players of all ages, locations, and skill levels.

- New change this year: The NTRP divisions are unsanctioned (similar to the Jackie Dockter  tournament) and thus do not require a paid USTA membership, but do require a free USTA account.

- For questions, please contact Erik Porter (Bismarck Open Tournament Director) at erikporter37@gmail.com or (701) 426-0320.

Summer League Socials

We are hosting our Socials for Summer League Ending on Monday (July 28) and Wednesday (July 30) @ Sertoma Tennis Courts after league play (around 8:30pm).

BMTA will supply the main menu for the Monday (pulled pork sandwiches, deli salads, fruits/vegetables, desserts, and sides) and the Wednesday (burgers, hot dogs, deli salads, desserts, and sides). Bring your own beverage(s). If you wish, you are welcome to bring your favorite dish to share, but not necessary.

All BMTA Members and/or League Players (Regulars and/or Subs) for any night are welcome to attend the Free Social(s) either or both nights. Tell your league mates. We hope to see you there!

Adult Fall Doubles League

Registration for Adult Fall Doubles League (Intermediate & Advanced) is open HERE. You are encouraged to sign up early to guarantee your spot.

Junior Tennis Clinic

Marc Stingley of USTA Northern, a top trainer and instructor for USTA in the nation, will teach a junior tennis clinic Wednesday (July 30) @ 9am-12pm @ Legacy High School Tennis Courts. More info and registration HERE

Free Tennis Lesson

In an effort to give back to our community, we are offering a free private 1on1 tennis lesson to anyone who is interested. You must be rated at NTRP of 3.0 or below (or JV) to ensure our instructor is better than you and properly able to provide you tips on strategy and/or technique. Your instructor will be a board member or anyone else who is interested in teaching. If you are interested in this opportunity to take a lesson or teach a lesson, please contact Nikhil at nikhilkalothia@gmail.com or (734) 837-4233.

BMTA Member of the Year Nominations

In an effort to receive more nominations, we are opening up our nominations earlier this year for the 2025 BMTA Member of the Year. This award is for someone who best exemplifies the mission of BMTA to promote, support and grow tennis, or otherwise made a significant difference in the Bismarck-Mandan community. You can email bmtatennis1972@gmail.com with the name of the person you are nominating and a brief write-up of why that person is deserving.

BMTA Accounts

Please ensure that your BMTA account has your correct email address and correct phone number listed under phone number (the system does not show us what's under mobile number). If they are not correct, please fix them. We often use what's on there when contacting you for leagues, events, or non-sanctioned tournaments.

Tournaments

More info about these and other tournaments can be found on the BMTA Events page HERE.

Stay Active Videos

Try this activity at home or on the court to work on hand-eye coordination and control. To make it more challenging, try spreading your arms out wider or letting the ball bounce higher. Try to see how many you can get in 30 seconds.

No court to play on at home? No problem! Make your own net at home using regular items from around the house. Get creative, but make sure to ask for permission from your parent or guardian before using!

Edgies works on your grips, specifically a continental grip. Using your racquet with a continental grip, try and see how many times you can hit the ball using the outer edge of your racquet. You got this!
