Updates from July 7, 2025

Mayo Pharmacy Bismarck Open

Our largest tournament of the year is less than a month away and attracts players of all ages, locations, and skill levels.

- New change this year: The NTRP divisions are unsanctioned (similar to the Jackie Dockter  tournament) and thus do not require a paid USTA membership, but do require a free USTA account.

- Please note that the combined Adult and Junior events on Friday-Sunday currently don't allow players to sign up for 2 doubles events and we are working on getting that fixed.

- For questions, please contact Erik Porter (Bismarck Open Tournament Director) at erikporter37@gmail.com or (701) 426-0320.

Request for Hosts

In an effort to attract more adult players for the 2025 Mayo Pharmacy Bismarck Open (August 1-3), BMTA is seeking individuals and families who would be willing to host adult competitors to offer additional accommodation options. Most players who would be interested in a host option are between the ages of 18-25 and are often playing on a college team. They would be arriving on Thursday (July 31) or Friday (August 1) and leaving on Sunday (August 3). If you would be interested in hosting, or can refer someone who would be interested in hosting, please contact erikporter37@gmail.com or (701) 426-0320.

For those willing to host, please provide the following details:

- Your contact information

- How many players you would be willing to host

- What dates you would be willing to host

Free Tennis Lesson

In an effort to give back to our community, we are offering a free private 1on1 tennis lesson to anyone who is interested. You must be rated at NTRP of 3.0 or below (or JV) to ensure our instructor is better than you and properly able to provide you tips on strategy and/or technique. Your instructor will be a board member or anyone else who is interested in teaching. If you are interested in this opportunity to take a lesson or teach a lesson, please contact Nikhil at nikhilkalothia@gmail.com or (734) 837-4233.

Stay Active Videos

Try this activity at home or on the court to work on hand-eye coordination and control. To make it more challenging, try spreading your arms out wider or letting the ball bounce higher. Try to see how many you can get in 30 seconds.

No court to play on at home? No problem! Make your own net at home using regular items from around the house. Get creative, but make sure to ask for permission from your parent or guardian before using!

Edgies works on your grips, specifically a continental grip. Using your racquet with a continental grip, try and see how many times you can hit the ball using the outer edge of your racquet. You got this!
