The Big Sky State Games is an Olympic-style amateur sports festival for people of all ages and abilities who reside in the great state of Montana. Residents in bordering states are invited to participate. The Games are a member of the National Congress of State Games and recognized by the United States Olympic Committee.
The competition will take place in Billings, MT on July 15-17.
Events include a USTA Sanctioned Junior Tournament, Unsanctioned Junior Tournament, and Adult tournament.
Check in at Pioneer Park. Rose Park and Castle Rock Park will be used also.
Draws will be posted on July 13.
Join the Free Opening Ceremonies on Friday, July 15 at Daylis Stadium in the evening.

Scheduling conflict - notify tournament director before draws are posted, all efforts can be made to help but information must come to director ASAP.
Players must check with their tournament desk to find out if tournament is ahead of schedule or being delayed.
Players must be ready to play 30 minutes before first match, and at least 15 minutes prior to all others.

Register by July 1 and your t-shirt will be available for pick up at your event site during check-in.
All participants registered after July 1 will pick up t-shirts at Billings Hotel & Convention Center during t-shirt pickup hours.
SPECIAL INFO: Junior tournament approved by USTA and will have sanctioned events available for Juniors Only. USTA membership required for sanctioned juniors events.
Tournament Information: Participants allowed entry in 2 events for tournament. If you wish to participate in Parent/Child event as your third event email hdawards@msn.com. Limit 2 events in Tennis plus Parent/Child division. Minimum of 3 entries in each event. In cases of 1 entry, the athlete is uncontested in that event and receives a free entry one level up. In cases of 2 entries, athletes play 1 match and receive a free entry one level up.
Please note on entry form if you do not wish to play one level up. Draws will be a full feed in with the consolation determining 3rd and 4th place on brackets 16 and under. Players will utilize regular deuce-ad scoring. Matches will be the best 2 of 3 sets with the 3rd set as a MATCH tie-breaker. A set tie-breaker is played at 6-6. Winner must win 7 points or win by 2 point margin. A match tie-breaker is played when all players have won one set each. Winner must accumulate 10 points or win by 2 point margin. All Final Matches and 3rd Place Matches will play a regular 3rd set, take a 10 minute break and receive new balls for the final set.
Inclement weather may force alternate scoring and/or schedule changes. Please check with tournament desk if weather is a factor. NO REFUNDS. USTA rules and regulations will govern play.
Volunteers Needed: Your cooperation in helping throughout the weekend is greatly appreciated. The entire tournament is operated with volunteers. ADULT TOURNAMENT: Players must be 18 or over to play NTRP events. Juniors may play in OPEN Events and in the Junior Tournament. Age as of July 31, 2022.
JUNIOR PLAYERS LEVEL OF PLAY: Competition for Juniors is based on age, NOT on experience. They compete against players of the same age group. Levels of competition will vary because of player’s experiences. A younger player will be allowed to play in an older age category in order to increase their level of competition.
NTRP RATING CATEGORIES/GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PLAYING LEVELS
2.5: This player is just starting to play tennis; has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play and can sustain a rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability; has obvious stroke weakness but is familiar with basic positions for singles and doubles play; is learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak.
3.0: This player is consistent when hitting medium paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks control when trying of directional intent, depth, or power; has better judgment on where the ball is going and is able to cover the court to keep the ball in play.
3.5: This player has achieved improved stroke dependability and direction on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety; is starting to exhibit more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing teamwork in doubles.
4.0: This player has dependable strokes, including directional intent and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate paced shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overhead, approach shots and volleys with some success.
4.5: This player has begun to master the use of power and spins and is beginning to vary tactics according to opponents; can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve and is able to rush the net successfully.
5.0 or higher NTRP: This player has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot or exceptional consistency around which a game can be structured; can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away volleys, can successfully execute lobs, drop shots, half volleys and overhead smashes and has good depth and spin on most second serves; has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon; can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation and has dependable shots in a stress situation.
