Current Challenge Ladder: 2025-2026 Varsity & JV Challenge Ladder

1) Challengers. The challenger (depending on whether it’s an odds or evens challenge week) must make the initial attempt to contact their opponent to set up a date, time, and location by 9 pm on Tuesday of that week. Please provide 3 options to minimize the back and forth.

2) Contact. If you do not know your opponent's phone number, first try establishing contact through SportsYou, then contact your Team Manager through SportsYou.

3) Scoring. Matches are 8-game pro sets. No-ad scoring. 7-point tiebreak at 7-all. The only exception to this is for matches played during the class period. Players may agree before the toss on the stopping time of the match. If an adjustment is made to the format, it must be communicated to the coach before play begins.  In that case, matches will either be played first to 6, with a 7-point tie-breaker at 6-6, or until practice is called by the coach.

4) Winners.  The winner must fill out the Google Form with the match score by Sunday at 11:59 pm. Being late with your scoring results in the match not counting. You will receive a confirmation from the Google Form to acknowledge receipt of your score entry. If you do not get this email, your score likely did not go through.

5) Defaults. Challenge matches are expected to be played, not forfeited. However, situations do arise.

  • Class period match times begin at 3:15. Players can have up to a 15-minute warm-up. Match play begins no later than 3:30 pm.

  • If your opponent does not show on time (w/ no prior communication) after 30 minutes, you win by default.  In this case you would enter 'default' for the score.

  • If your opponent communicates that they will be late: 15-30 mins late from the original communicated time your options are as follows:

    • You win by default at 30 minutes

    • You gain a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes, but less than 30 minutes. This lead includes delay of game if an athlete comes unprepared to play.

  • If you are sick or a personal conflict comes up, you are expected to notify your opponent as soon as possible. Your opponent is NOT required to reschedule a match. Please see reschedules.

  • If you forget your gear, break a string, don’t have a racket, that’s on you. Figure it out or default. No one is expected to loan you gear. There are extra rackets in the shed.

6) Reschedules. If a time is agreed to and you need to reschedule, you are granted only 1 reschedule per match as long as both of the following expectations are met:

  • You provide at least a 2-hour notice for all matches scheduled @ noon or earlier.

  • You provide at least a 3-hour notice for all matches scheduled after 12:01 pm.
    AND

  • Your opponent is willing to agree to another time (this is not required)

If the match is late in the week, your opponent is not required to reschedule the match; however, it is encouraged to attempt to reschedule. Notify Coach McCampbell if the only possible reschedule is during the class period and you had a significant conflict involving illness, family, weather, or transportation.
