Intern for NETX - School program engagement

Northeast Texas Coaliition Tennis Association - Intern Position for 2022

Working in conjunction with USTA-TX Communitiy Services Coordinator [CSC] for our area
NETX intern will touch base with our area schools and see how we can facilitiate their tennis programs.

Look at these sites to get an idea of the programs available:

Mark, our CSC, has contacted many of the schools and will be able to provide direction and support.

  • If the school has registered; are they using their equipment, do they need more balls or other resources
  • If the school has NOT registered, are they interested in free curriculum and equipment to facilitate a tennis rotation in their P.E. classes or after-school programs?

Depending on your resources and foci, this program could focus on Tyler area schools.
Alternatively, or as well, in association with Mark, you could meet with ISD athletic directors in our population center ISDs to facilitate and authorize tennis programs in their schools.

This is a 1099 position. You will be a consultant to the Coalition.
Your compensation will be for hours worked with the majority results based, for example no. of schools contacted.
Exact compensation to be negotiated with you before starting to meet your interests, needs and program results.

For example, let's say you choose to focus on Tyler Area schools, compensation might look like:

$3,000 total

$1,225 =  $35 bonus for every school x 35 schools
$1,500 = $15/hr - 100 hours for "desk time"  training, coordination, and reporting

You can expense your supplies and car mileage on your income taxes.

We anticipate this work could be done in three or four months, perhaps Fall 2022.

If this sound interesting to you please see the contact information below.

Email from Katy announcing "Intern Day"

I am thrilled to announce that USTA Texas will be hosting the "CTA Intern Day" in-person for the first time since 2019.  I will be working hand and hand with our Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Erica Nelson-Flowers on this project.

The goals for this workshop will be to provide the interns with the knowledge and resources they need to see success while serving your CTA and beyond!  They will leave with a better understanding of the USTA and USTA Texas.  In addition, they will gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of the different departments at USTA Texas.  They will get a sense of the next steps and the many ways they can remain involved with their local CTA, the Section and the Texas Tennis Community as a whole.  And lastly, they will leave with a network of new friends that share a similar love for the sport.

Many of you indicated that you would earmark some of the CTA Comprehensive Grant funding to hire an intern for your CTA.  We would love for you to begin identifying this individual as soon as possible to ensure they are able to attend the above mentioned workshop.

The CTA Intern Day will be held in Austin, Texas July 21 - July 22.  We are in the process of finalizing the location, but hope to have that information to our CTA Leaders very soon.

USTA Texas will help cover most of the expenses related to travel, meals and lodging.

Erica and I do need to know by EOD Monday, June 6 if your CTA intends to send a representative to this training.

We thank you for your dedication and commitment to our great sport. In the event that you have questions, please feel free to reach out to either one of us.

Best,

Katy Rogers (she/her)
