Officers Meeting Minutes from November 16, 2022

Present were: Brian, Gary, Edward, Jim, Melissa, Randy

Noon: Meeting called to order and introductions

1. Note from Middleton's team that went to sectional <HL> (see image here)
2. 12:13 Debrief on Christus Health Pro Tournament participation
   • Kids day sponsored by NETX hosted about 140 kids from Jack Elementary and attending adults. Melissa talked with Dana at TASC who will work with us to expand to another kids day involvoing another school 
   • The high school night was also sucessful and could be expanded to include middle schools.The kids days will work for elementary however UIL rules make it difficult to get middle shool and above on court
3. Discussion about changing NETX status from 501(c)(4) to C3.
   Agreement that, for now,  TCTA can fill in as "our" C3 when needed.
4. Motion passed to get liability insurance from USTA for NETX which will cost $700 for 2023. 
   Find out the cost of D&O insurance from USTA program
5. Thanks Gary for filling out the USTA Texas CTA of The Year application.  
6. Motion passed to pursue an Indoor Pickleball Tournament in February 2023 as a fundraiser. 
   • Cascades rent, tournament director... expenses budget is $3,000 to generate $8,000 in revenue
7. 12:55 Motion passed to form a DBA under TCTA called "Northeast Texas Pickleball Association" 
   • Once the DBA is in place then join USA Pickleball at the $50 club level.
8. Motion passed to form a DBA under NETX "Northeast Texas Community Tennis Association"
9. CTA regional meeting in Irving attended by Melissa, Gary and Edward
   • Other CTA programs and ideas we might consider are
     • Tennis Lessons for home shool groups - they get a P.E credit
     • sponsoring a cancer patient / survivor league or lessons 
       apparently there are grants available 
   • Building leagues, care and feeding of volunteers, what to do with Pickleball, facility maintenance, facility acquistion, working with and in the tennis community were common themes.
10. Motion to support January 2023 ATP event at TASC but not sponsor with money at this time.
