Ages 5 - 7. Red ball tennis is named after the oversized red/yellow balls that are used at this stage. Red tennis balls bounce lower and move more slowly through the air, helping players develop tennis coordination skills while playing on a court that is easily manageable for their size and age. Courts at this level are 36 feet long and 18 feet wide, with a net that is 2-foot-9.
Players in this class will learn the basics of tennis strokes, including volleys, ground strokes, serves and slices. As players advance, they will progress into tennis tactics and match play.
