Schedule Update - Posted 12/15/2022

Due to the Winter Storm Warning in the Ithaca and surrounding areas issued until 7 PM on Friday we've adjusted some match times so that the first matches on Saturday are now scheduled at 11 AM.  Since many families are traveling to the tournament from a great distance, we made this schedule change in order to provide more players the option to travel to the tournament on Saturday morning rather than Friday evening, when the roads may not be as well plowed.  We made these match time changes in the interests of safety and the downside is that some of the scheduling will be less convenient, and some of the Voluntary Consolation matches may now need to be scheduled on Monday due to the increased number of main draw matches which needed to be scheduled on Sunday.  Please check the draws to see updated match times.

Saturday Morning Practice Courts
We will now offer practice courts for half an hour on Saturday morning from 10-10:30 AM and 10:30-11 AM.  Players who had reserved time at 7 AM will have their time shifted to 10 AM and players who had reserved time at 7:30 AM will have their time shifted to 10:30 AM.  If you no longer wish to keep the practice court time you previously reserved, please call the Reis Tennis Center at 607-254-8922 to cancel the reservation.

B16 Singles Draw Changes - Posted 12/15/2022

Due to the withdrawal of a seeded player in this division some players have been reseeded and a few adjustments to this draw have been made, as allowed in Friend at Court when the withdrawal of a seeded player is received in advance.

Main Draws Posted - 12/12/2022

The singles main draws and doubles draws are posted with match times.  All players who lose their first singles match need to let the tournament desk know shortly after their first match whether they'll participate in consolation singles, regardless of what they entered in the registration.  The consolation singles draws will be posted late Saturday evening after all players have finished their first singles matches.  We plan to schedule the consolation singles matches on Sunday.

Match Check Ins

Players should check in up to 15 minutes before their match times.  When players check in, they should be ready to go on court.

Practice Courts

Players may reserve indoor practice courts on Friday, December 16 at the Reis Tennis Center student member rate of $30/hour. On Saturday, December 17 and Sunday, December 18 players may reserve time from 7-7:30 AM or 7:30-8 AM and on Monday, December 19 from 8-8:30 or 8:30-9 AM, by calling the Reis Tennis Center front desk at 607-254-8922. The charge is $5 per player and the practice times listed for Saturday-Monday are restricted to 30 minutes per player with up to four players to a court.  When making a reservation please indicate the names of all players you're reserving time for and provide a cell phone contact number.

Please understand that these are the only times we have practice courts available, as we have matches scheduled on all courts starting at 8 AM on Saturday.  Practice on courts next to matches will not be allowed by the tournament officials but players also have the option of warming up on bikes.

Matches to be played on indoor hard courts

Singles draw type: Voluntary Consolation - Pilot. A Voluntary Consolation (VC) draw, also known as Voluntary sign-up consolation, is a draw in which the losers from the main draw are fed back into another draw against players who lost in earlier rounds of the main draw (single elimination) tournament. Only players that lose their first round match or receive a Bye in the first round and lose their 2nd round match will have the ability to play the consolation. Withdrawals and walkovers are considered a win and therefore a match.

As per Friend at Court:  A voluntary Sign-Up Consolation draw comprises all first match losers who choose to play in the draw. Only players who intend to complete the consolation should enter and will be manually added by the tournament director. The consolation draw may not be played to completion but at least one consolation match is guaranteed.

Consolation draws will not be published until ALL players' 1st-round matches have been completed. The consolation will ONLY include those players that have indicated they want to play. During the registration process, players will need to answer a question, in which they will indicate to the tournament director if they will be playing the consolation or not.  This information needs to be collected in advance so we can set aside the appropriate amount of court time. If you confirm that you will play the consolation following your first singles match and then don’t play the scheduled matches, you will be penalized automatic suspension points for unsportsmanlike conduct. The consolation singles schedule plan will be posted after entries close and we know the total number of matches which will need to be scheduled in the tournament.

Singles Match format:

Main Draw - Two tiebreak sets, 10-point match tiebreak at one set all; no-ad.  If players split sets, there is a 2 minute on court break with no coaching.

Consolation - Two short sets to 4 (7-point tiebreak at 4 games all), 7-point match tiebreak at one set all; no-ad.

Doubles draw type: Single elimination

Doubles Match format: 8 game pro-set with 7-point tiebreak at 8 games all; no-ad.

Selection: Top 24 singles players and 16 doubles pairs in each division based on the most recently published national standings list.

Doubles Pairings

Players must confirm a doubles partner by Friday, December 9 at 6 PM to be included in the doubles draw.

For players who wish to play doubles but don't have a partner, Match Tennis App has a feature through which players can reach out to other registered applicants to check on pairing up for doubles.  Players also have the option of sending an email to abf11@cornell.edu if they want their doubles pairing request to be forwarded to another player. Players must compose the email which they want forwarded to another player.

We do not offer random doubles pairings to players who haven't confirmed partners.
