JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Fundraising Coordinator (Motor City Tennis Club/Greater Detroit Tennis Alliance) POSITION STATUS: Part-Time FLSA STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Detroit, Michigan
REPORTS TO: President, Motor City Tennis Club
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time; flexible schedule weekdays and weekends; weekend and night-time work may be required at various site locations during MCTC/GDTA events.
WHO WE ARE: Motor City Tennis Club (Mission Statement: To promote the sport of tennis in metropolitan Detroit through year-round lessons, leagues, tournaments, and special events, to encourage healthy living, and to provide recreational options, social development, and career and scholarship opportunities for youth participants.) Greater Detroit Tennis Alliance (A partnership of Motor City Tennis Club and the following Community Tennis Associations geographically distributed throughout metro Detroit: Farwell CTA, Flat-Out Tennis CTA (Chandler Park), Hamtramck CTA, Opportunity Tennis CTA (Inkster/Westland), People for Palmer Park CTA). Motor City Tennis Club serves as the fiduciary organization for the Alliance. Motor City distributes support funding to the member organizations for instructor compensation, liability insurances, and various equipment needs.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Are interested in promoting and growing the sport of tennis.
- Have a track record of providing quality customer service.
- Positively embrace change.
- Work well with minimal supervision and have excellent time management skills.
- Previous fundraising experience and local tennis networking connections preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON:
- Networking with local contacts to generate ideas for fundraising events.
- Planning, managing, and performing all administrative and clerical tasks necessary for the operation and support for all fundraising activities related to Motor City Tennis Club and the Greater Detroit Tennis Alliance.
- Providing publicity for fundraising events via USTA, SEMTA, and Motor City Tennis Club organizational websites, social media, and flyer distribution.
- Attending regular meetings of the Motor City Tennis Club Executive Board and General Membership and providing progress updates.
- Assisting with fundraiser administration on-site at the event.
- Other duties as assigned
BENEFITS:
- Compensation: $40/hour (includes networking, planning, publicity, and administration).
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- High School Diploma - Required.
- Four-year College Degree – preferred.
- Knowledge of USTA mission, programs, and platforms – preferred.
- Excellent customer service, required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail - required.
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple events - required.
- Strong leadership and team management skills- required.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems quickly and effectively- required.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills- required.

- Local Travel
- Travel destinations: Event sites within the Southeastern Michigan District footprint.
