2021 Currituck Spring Jr. Team Tennis
Jr. Team Tennis is a great way for middle school students to learn the game of tennis by playing in a fun, low-pressure league.
The program consists of two components:
- a weekly practice clinic, primarily aimed at beginning players
- a series of team tennis matches, where students play with their friends on evenly matched teams
The weekly practice clinics are offered as a resource ... and are not a requirement to participate in league play. If your child has some tennis experience, and would not profit from a beginner clinic, just sign up for the league and play in the matches.
The practice clinics will be held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, immediately after school, at both Moyock Middle School and at Currituck County High School, starting on Monday, March 15th. Students should attend the clinic that corresponds to the days they are attending school in-person. All-virtual students should choose one or the other. We'll make exceptions for special situations on a case-by-case basis.
Players will be placed on teams in such a manner that each team has a mix of experienced and beginning players, giving each team a reasonable chance to succeed. Four to six players will be assigned to each team.
Matches will be played on Monday evenings, after spring break. The first match will take place on Monday, April 12th, starting at 6:00pm at Currituck County High School. The season will conclude on Monday, May 17th.
Registration begins on March 1st, and ends on March 31st. Players must be 11 years old at the time of registration, and cannot turn 15 prior to August 31st.
Registration takes place online through the USTA's TennisLink system. USTA membership is required to participate, but USTA membership for juniors is now free for all players under age 18. The league registration fee is $25.00.
