  • 12U matches will be played on Sunday afternoon (between 12pm & 6pm).
  • First 16 players registered will be selected to play in the event. Registration opens about 1 month out & closes 2 days before the first day of the event.
  • Draws/Match schedules will be delivered to the player's USTA account email used to register them into the event. Draws will be emailed out after the registration closes.
  • Match times for your child can be found in the Draw/Match Schedule email or by clicking your child's name in the draw on the USTA event website (after the registration closes). Parents are responsible for reviewing the emailed draw & match times/schedule for their child.

AGE REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE

Players must be a minimum of 7 years old to play in Orange Ball and a minimum of 9 years old (or have scored 1000 points or more Net Generation Playtracker points at Orange Ball level) to play in Green Ball.

If an orange ball player doesn't meet the required age or playtracker point total for green ball but still wishes to play in the green ball division, they can be promoted to green ball level by passing a Net Generation Coach's Assessment. The assessment must be completed by a player’s primary Safe Play approved certified coach using the Net Generation mobile app. Learn how to use the assessment tool here.

  • This Event is an opportunity for Orange & Green Ball players to acquire Net Generations Playtracker points to advance up in their Youth Progression Pathway as well as valuable match experience playing competitive green ball.
  • See USTA Net Generation Playtracker resources here!

FORMAT

  • Players are randomly placed in 1 of 4 round robin pools & are guaranteed at least 3 timed-matches (depending on number of overall registered players in the division).
  • All round robin groups will play 20-minute timed matches. Groups with more than 4 players will play 15-minute timed matches. And finally, groups with less than 4 players each will play 30-minute matches.
  • Order of finishers in round robin groups will be determined by win/loss record. Ties in win/loss records will be decided by head-to-head, followed by win percentage: total games won to total games lost.
  • Top finisher of each round robin group will advance to a 4-player playoff with semi finals & finals matches. 1st - 4th will be awarded prizes.

SCORING

  • Round robin groups will play 20-minute timed single set matches to 6 games (player that wins 6 total games first wins match) or highest game total after the time-limit runs out (if unable to reach the 6 game cap).
  • If time runs out but players are in the middle of a decisive rally, players may finish the point until the rally ends.
  • If time runs out & players set scores are tied (ex: set score 3-3), the player that has at least a 1-point lead in the current game (ex: game score 40-15) is awarded final game to break set score tie.
  • If players are tied at the end of the time-limit (ex: set score 3-3, game score 15-15), players play 1 final point to determine the winner of the match based on who is currently serving (or who is serving next if game score is 0-0).
  • Playoff matches will play traditional non-timed single set matches to 6 games, win by two if set reaches 5-5 (ex: 7-5 wins match)), or play a tiebreak if set reaches 6-6 (ex: 7-6 wins match).
  • No-Ad scoring
