The ITA Summer Points Race
The Points Race is a results-based point system that tracks top performers throughout the summer. Points race standings will be published each week on the ITA website. The top finishers at the end of the summer will receive automatic entry and travel reimbursement to the ITA National Summer Championships. (more info)

Tournament Registration & ITA Membership
All players must have a valid 2025 ITA Player Membership and a free USTA account to register for a tournament. All ITA Summer Points Race tournaments are "open", meaning there are no age or level restrictions placed on entry. Once the registration deadline passes, selections will be made according to player WTN as of the Wednesday before the tournament start date.

ITA Refund & Withdrawal Policy
Players will not be charged an entry fee until they are selected into the tournament. Players will be automatically charged when selections are made. Subsequently, players can withdraw from the tournament up until the time that selections are made without penalty. Per ITA policy, players who withdraw after selections are made will forfeit their entry fee. This withdrawal policy is agreed to by all entrants during the online registration process.

Selections, Seeding, and Alternate List
Once the entry deadline passes, selections into the tournament will be made according to player WTNs as of the Wednesday before the tournament start date. Singles WTNs will be used for singles, and doubles WTNs will be used for doubles. WTNs will also determine which flight a player is in, if the event contains multiple flights, and will be used to seed each flight.
Players who are not selected will be placed on an alternate list ordered by WTN. Alternates may be moved into the draw until the time that play begins in that draw or flight.

Draws & Wildcrads
To promote level-based, competitive play, all Summer Points Race Series events will use flighted play during tournaments. Once selections have been made, competitor fields will be divided into draws based on player WTNs, no larger than 32 participants per draw and no smaller than 16 players per draw. Tournament directors have the option to award one wild card entry for every 16 players in a draw/flight.

Format, Rules, and Coaching

Players and officials shall follow the ITA Men’s and Women’s Division I rule for medical timeouts (pages 17-19 of the 2024-25 ITA Rule Book) and the ITA Division I and II rule for bathroom breaks (page 19). For all other rules, officials, players, and tournament directors should follow ITA rules as laid out in the “Individual Competition” section of the 2024-25 ITA Rulebook.  This includes the ITA point penalty system, defaults, and the unintentional time violation section.  If not specified by ITA rules, officials should default to USTA rules.

Entry information

Tournament will start on Saturday at 9:00 am and we'll try to wrap up by Sunday afternoon.  We will likely put the participants into draws of 16 based on WTN so that players play 2 matches Saturday and 2 matches Sunday (and therefore no one has to stay on Monday or play 3 matches in one day).

Weather permitting, all players will play at least 2 matches over the course of the weekend (unless of course people pull out etc) but if players want to stay and play out the back draw and play more than that, we'll certainly try and accomodate that (again, weather permitting)!

We have 4 indoor courts on campus, but we'll make every attempt to play the touranament outdoors if possible.  However, based on how things progress and on the TD's discretion, matches could be moved inside even if the weather is fine outside in order to keep things moving on time!

The local Middle School, about a mile away from campus, has 3 nice courts that can be used for warm-up.  Google "Kent County Middle School" for directions.  No warm-up on the the competition courts other than 1 hr prior to the start of the matches (so 7:45 to 8:45 am on each morning).
