WEATHER ADVISORY/RECOMMENDATIONS
WEATHER POLICY
All players will be issued a credit when a lesson, program or court booking is cancelled due to weather.
HEAT
The Clayton County Tennis Center will be under a heat advisory and potential closure - to be announced - when the UV Index levels are 'High', 'Very High' or 'Extremely High' according to the World Health Organization (WHO) measures.
Please be on alert when temperatures exceed 90 degrees or above as they can feel much higher pending other weather conditions impacting the atmosphere and particularly on a hard surface court.
Current benches on court (as of 7/5/2024) can become hot to the touch. Please take extreme caution before sitting on the court benches and consider covering with a thick towel or some form of heat resistant covering before sitting down during times of high to extreme high UV Index levels and temperatures.
NO PLAY IS ALLOWED DURING ANY WEATHER/HEAT CLOSURE.
OTHER WEATHER
Rain: Play is not allowed during Rain
Thunder and Lightning: All play must cease during dry weather threats (thunder, lightning, etc.). When thunderstorms are threatening there may be a potential closure - to be announced - prior to the storm arriving.
Cold Weather: During extreme cold temperatures (below freezing) and/or hazardous precipitation due to cold weather (sleet, hale, ice, etc.) the tennis center will be closed. Be on alert as black ice can be present on a hard surface court during cold weather.
RECOMMENDED ACTIONS
HEAT ADVISORY
During times of high to extremely high temperatures closure are likley.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke - move to cool or shaded locations and cool down body temperatures immediately.
Reduce risk by scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
COLD ADVISORY
During the threat of black ice, check with management before booking and/or playing on a court.
Always check the surface of the court for any slip and fall threat before play.
